What is "behealthykeephealthy" all about?
The main message of this site is that you must take personal responsibility for your health.
What does this statement mean? It means that you are responsible – yourself – for your health. Nobody else is responsible. Not your family. Not your employer. Not your insurance company. Not your doctor.
You alone are responsible for what happens to your health. You alone are in charge.
If you truly want to stay healthy and avoid disease, you will need to assume personal responsibility for your health and learn what makes good health possible.
At this point, let me make it clear that I am not a physician. Neither am I trying to turn you into a physician.
I believe physicians do an excellent job and many of them provide exceptional service. I always recommend that you work with a qualified physician. However, when you recognize that you are responsible for your health, you become part of the process of being healthy and keeping healthy. My point is that you cannot hand over the responsibility of keeping your physical health to anyone else, just like you cannot hand over the responsibility of keeping your financial health to your banker or investment adviser.
How do you take over the responsibility of being healthy and keeping healthy. You do this by making intelligent and informed choices.
Our bodies are designed to stay healthy. There is an in-built mechanism to greatly minimize the chances of our getting sick. If you understand this and take good care of your body, you can live a healthy and happy life.
It is essential that you do whatever is necessary to be healthy and keep healthy.
Why? Because you, me - and everyone else - has been given only one life to live. Each of us has got only one body. If you take good care of it, there is every chance you will live a healthy and longer life. You will be able to achieve your life’s goals much better if you do not have health problems being a heavy burden on your time, emotions and bank account. You will not be like the person about whom I read whose “medical bills total to more money than he had earned throughout his entire life!” Also remember that money is only one part of the problems brought on by poor health. Do not forget the pain and the suffering.
How do you start the process of taking charge? The first thing is to become informed. Being reasonably informed will give you a sense of control and empower you to reach better decisions. Talk to other informed people and health professionals. Much free or low cost health related information can be found on the internet. However, be aware that several Internet sites are geared towards selling you their own "solutions” rather than giving unbiased information that helps your health goals.
I believe that God has made a perfect design when He created us. He has given each of us a body that has got a built-in self-healing mechanism. If we take reasonable care of it, do not cause it too much harm and allow it to mend itself, we can keep healthy.
I invite you all to study these core principles, take control of your health and start doing the things that will make and keep your body healthy.
